MEA Honors Kathryn Telford and Terry Theil of WEC Energy Group for Providing First Aid

MEA is honored to present two awards to employees of WEC Energy Group. Kathryn Telford, team leader was presented with the MEA Life Sustaining Award for her hands-on actions that saved the life of another. Telford performed abdominal thrusts, commonly known as the Heimlich on a choking individual, saving that person’s life.

Terry Thiel, gas utility mechanic, was recognized with a Meritorious Service Award for coming to the aid of an injured teen. Thiel and Dan Ehlers of KS Energy Services provided the girl with coats to keep her warm, called 911, and stayed with her until the paramedics arrived.

“It is a privilege to present the Life Sustaining and Meritorious Service Awards,” said John Gann, MEA Energy Association vice president. “These awards serve to highlight the outstanding individuals in the energy industry who rise up when called and make a positive contribution to society.”
