The area offers a friendly community and a great place to call home! For this role, we are looking for a licensed journey Line Technician to work both independently and alongside crews as needed. Primarily working in an assigned outlying gas and electric area away from the district office. In this role you are responsible for promoting the interests of the company, upholding prestige, interpreting and applying policies, improving public relations, and maintaining company property. In this position, you will take after-hours emergency and outage calls. Due to this on-call responsibility, you must reside within vicinity of customer base and work area, at manager discretion. Job Responsibilities : •Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects. •Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters. •Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints. •Explains company rules, rates and policies. Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations. •In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation. •Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services. •Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses. •Patrols lines and trims trees. •Climbs poles and assists line crews. •Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Job Qualifications : •One year experience as a journey line technician. •Reasonable knowledge of service work. •Ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision. •Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance and State codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance. •Proven sense of responsibility to the company and the public. •Some supervisory ability. •Possession of a valid driver's license; ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period. •Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. •Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group. •Bachelors’ Degree in Physical Sciences, Environmental Science, or Engineering. •2-4 years experience as an Associate Environmental Consultant with demonstrated ability to perform the requirements of that position or some combination of an advanced degree in physical sciences, environmental sciences, engineering or related field and years of experience.

Knowledge of 49 CFR, Part 192, Subpart N, Operator Qualification (OQ) requirements preferred. Basic knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS). Fundamental digital literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, etc. Able to mentor, guide others, and work effectively within a team environment. Able to explain technical theories, functions, regulations, or procedures clearly and accurately. Able to work productively with limited supervision. Able to maintain accurate records and documentation. Able to become certified as an Operator Qualification Evaluator within six months. Qualified to conduct welding qualifications and re-qualifications as required strongly preferred. Valid Wisconsin driver's license.

Job Description:
Responsible for safe and consistent distribution line operations at assigned distribution sites. Provide leadership for distribution line department employees including coaching, staffing, planning, budgeting, and process improvements. Responsible for efficient coordination and scheduling of electric crews on a regional or multi-site level. Prioritize work to meet customer needs and business goals and for the efficient use of resources including tools, materials, and equipment. The position reports to the Operations Manager and primary responsibilities include the following as well as other duties as assigned: • Run, Maintain, Improve Operations- Coordinate and prioritize work assignments, make effective and efficient use of resources, and implement work plans and initiatives. • Provide technical support to direct reports and other departments including the implementation of company safety rules, work methods, and standards along with providing monthly safety meetings to assigned work group. • Provide insight and take part in the designing of the UPPCO Electrical system including customer, company, and large capital work orders. • Provide coaching and assistance to work group members to resolve work and interpersonal problems. • Coordinate work with other departments as needed i.e., Substation, Metering, Design, and SOC. • Coordinate work with UPPCO Contractors for URD installation, Tree Trimming, Storm Restoration, etc. • Assist UPPCO with staffing, grievances, and disciplinary issues. • Assist Supply Chain with Distribution Department material requests and standards. • Assist Facilities with scheduling and coordinating of building and grounds maintenance. • Assist Engineering and SOC with requests for switching procedures. • Assist the Fleet scheduling vehicle maintenance, new equipment specifications, etc. • Assist in the resolution of customer complaints including working with the UPPCO Legal Department to mitigate customer grievances. • Assist the Environmental Department with environmental issues as needed. • Work as storm coordinator during major or minor events. • Work with governing agencies as required. • Enter service entries and initiate purchase requisitions in SAP.
Experience Required:
